Bedrooms – Bedrooms are fully furnished to a high standard, but residents may bring in their own furnishing and make any changes as they wish. They have either unsuited facilities or wash hand basin

Meals – Meals are normally taken in the dining area, but residents may eat in their own rooms if required. Meals times are flexible with the emphasis being on individual needs and preferences. There are no set meal times. There is always a choice of menu, and tea and coffee making facilities are always available.

Management of Medication – If residents are able, they are encouraged to administer their own medication. If they find this difficult staff will ensure that medication is stored in a locked cupboard in the office and administered at the correct dosage and time. All medication administered by staff will be recorded.

Monies – If required, money will be kept safe and secure in a locked safe in the main office. Monies held in the safe are kept in individual plastic pouches which clearly indicate resident’s name. All transactions are recorded in individual cashbooks. This is available to residents at any time.

Activities – Staff will endeavour to support any interests residents have and help residents to enjoy recreational and educational facilities in the community. Residents are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities including cinema, theatre, swimming, college, Maple Ridge Social Club and work experience. At all times staff will respect resident’s wishes and preferences.


Transport – Transport is available to residents to allow them to participate in community facilities and attend any appointments. i.e. doctors, chiropody, hairdresser, etc.

Smoking – The home operates a non-smoking policy for staff and residents. There is a designated smoking area at the rear door.

Charges – Charges vary according to need and are discussed and agreed before admission with Social Work staff, carers and residents.

Contract – All residents or their representative are given a contract containing relevant information. Once signed, the contract is held in the resident’s file. Contracts can be made available for perusal at induction or prior to admission.

Policies and Procedures – Policies and procedures are held in the general office. All legal policies and procedures are available for perspective residents and/or their representatives to read as they so wish.

Health and Safety – Maple Ridge operates within the Health and Safety guidelines set out for Care Homes.
